Ashtadasha Shakti peetham. (18 Shakti holy places)

Shakti has been a principle deity for Hindus, and Adishankara Acharya in his sthothra mentions about 18 Shakti peeths which are important pilgrimages for Hindus.

There is a big story behind the formation of these peetham, according to the legend, but, to cut it short Lord Vishnu with his Sudharshana Chakram cut the body of Sati in 18 parts, and each part corresponds to one of these 18 places.
